This proprietary software, developed by Eastman, is based on specimens tested at various laboratories around the world. One or more of the following methodologies has been utilized in the development of the data: ASTM International E90 Standard Test Method for Laboratory Measurement of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss of Building Partitions and Elements, E413 Classification for Rating Sound Insulation, and E1332 Standard Classification for Rating Outdoor-Indoor Sound Attenuation; and ISO 10140-1Acoustics -- Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements -- Part 1: Application rules for specific products, ISO 10140-2 Acoustics — Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements — Part 2: Measurement of airborne sound insulation, ISO 10140-4 Acoustics — Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements — Part 4: Measurement procedures and requirements, ISO 717-1 Acoustics — Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements — Part 1: Airborne sound insulation, ISO 16940 Glass in building — Glazing and airborne sound insulation — Measurement of the mechanical impedance of laminated glass. One-third octave band data derived from the above test methods has been utilized in the calculation of the Decibel Reduction value as presented in this software.
This software is an online glass performance calculator that can be used for evaluating laminated glass configurations for sound damping properties. It has a simplified user interface that allows the selection of single number acoustic ratings or the configuration of common glass constructions. Tested and/or estimated performance results are delivered. The calculator was developed to allow users to compare conventional polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and acoustic PVB tri-layer interlayer technologies to determine the best laminated configuration for specific glazing applications. All values are supplied as glass only and do not consider the incorporation of the glass into glazing systems.
The calculator features various glass thicknesses and configurations with Saflex® PVB interlayers. The software will deliver performance information and allow for a PDF report to be generated detailing the glass configuration including interlayer type and thickness, single number acoustic ratings and for tested configurations, one-third octave band data and test variables.
This software can be used to generate acoustic performance data on glass as tested or to request estimations of laminated glass configurations with Saflex and Vanceva® PVB interlayers, subject to the following conditions:
