Advanced PVB interlayer for EV side windows delivers design flexibility and acoustic comfort.

KINGSPORT, Tenn., April 30, 2025 — Eastman will highlight Saflex™ Evoca™ RSL at the SAE Noise and Vibration Conference and Exhibition in Grand Rapids, Michigan, May 12–15. Developed specifically for frameless side windows, Evoca RSL is the first new product introduced under Eastman’s Saflex Evoca platform, which was created to support the unique demands of electric vehicle design. Eastman will be located at Booth 320.

Evoca RSL is a rigid acoustic PVB interlayer that combines enhanced sound damping with the stiffness needed for frameless, asymmetric and thinner glass constructions — giving OEMs and glass suppliers greater design flexibility without compromising cabin comfort or performance.

“As EVs evolve, the expectations for both acoustics and design are rising, along with continued pressure on cost and complexity reduction,” said Daniel Hodder, market segment manager at Eastman. “Saflex Evoca RSL helps our customers meet those expectations, delivering a quieter cabin experience and greater flexibility in realizing modern, frameless designs with the use of more standardized glass types and door system components.”

In addition to Evoca RSL, Eastman will also showcase other acoustic interlayers from its Evoca portfolio, including Saflex Evoca E Series — an advanced acoustic solution engineered for high-frequency noise reduction.

Technical experts will be available to discuss how Eastman’s portfolio of acoustic PVB interlayers supports noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) reduction and next-generation glazing solutions for EVs.
